About

Giovanni Biswas (b. 1979, in Florence, Italy), is an Italian composer based in Cologne.

He studied instrumental composition with Rosario Mirigliano (Conservatory of Florence) and Markus Hechtle (Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln). He has attended many master classes, among the others with Azio Corghi, Beat Furrer and Francesco Filidei.
Concurrently, he devoted himself to the study of choral music and Baroque singing as a tenor, graduating in Ferrara with Gloria Banditelli, which led him for many years to perform in concerts and institutions in Italy and across Europe.

His music has been performed by ensembles such as BRuCH and Kommas.

Since 2021 he has focused on composing a collection of pieces for solo piano (Studi-Improvvisi), that explores the sonorities of the extended instrument.
